Session 5 - Practice Makes Perfect! The class on April 1st was a small but focused group! Antonio and Alison jumped right into getting some more video practice over at Brittany's hair studio (shout out to Peace, Love & Hair 😀!). Newcomer Nancy and I took some time talking basic settings for her new camera, then she tried her hand at taking some product photos of some samples from Luna Juice Bar! And Antonio and Alison finished up their time with a little product video practice. Job well done, gang! Videos I know it's a repeat, but this quick overview of shutter speed, aperture and ISO keeps popping up! It's great for those that are new to photography and anyone else wanting to brush up on manual camera controls. Student Samples Take a look at a few quick practice clips done by Antonio! Equipment Recommendations This post contains affiliate links. As an Amazon associate, Camera Coach may earn commissions from qualifying purchases, at no cost to you. Here's a quick rundown of some specific equipment that was discussed or practiced with during class. Each item has a link and a quick description. Cell Phone Lenses Moment 58mm Telephoto Lens - amzn.to/4csH1rb This is one of the best quality telephoto lens options for cell phones that don't have additional lenses. There are different versions for different phones, so be sure to check for compatibility before purchasing! Cameras Nikon Z30 - amzn.to/4am3F2K The Z30, in my opinion, is Nikon's best entry level mirrorless camera for vloggers. The lack of a viewfinder didn't seem as much of a problem as I initially thought, especially with the addition of a fully articulated LCD display. Cell Phone Gimbals Zhiyun Smooth 5 Combo - amzn.to/3IzHdY3 Zhiyun Smooth 5S Combo - amzn.to/3vaoqzw The Smooth 5 may not be the smallest cell phone gimbal but it is a great option for larger, heavier cell phones. The 5S model has a light built into the frame. Monopods Neewer Monopod with Feet - https://amzn.to/4a3f3jS A monopod is great for both videos and long photo sessions using heavier lenses! They help provide stabilization similar to a tripod, but with a smaller footprint. It is not advised to leave heavier camera setups unattended, though (they'll still require some hand-holding). This Neewer is a pretty cost effective option.
